Tax deductible and Zakat eligible
The LADO Group is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations are tax deductible as allowable by law. Our Tax ID is 84-5056478.
Numerous Muslim scholars have confirmed that Zakat is payable to organizations that exist to serve the Muslim community by calling non-Muslims to the Islamic faith. This is because the work done by LADO (and other such organizations) can be classified as Dawah, which is one of the eight categories of Zakat recipients detailed by Allah SWT in chapter 9, verse 60 of the Quran.
“Zakah expenditures are only for the poor and for the needy and for those employed to collect [zakah] and for bringing hearts together [for Islam] and for freeing captives [or slaves] and for those in debt and for the cause of Allah and for the [stranded] traveler – an obligation [imposed] by Allah . And Allah is Knowing and Wise.”
-Quran 9:60.
Even so, we also maintain a separate account for anyone who prefers their Zakat be distributed only to the poor and needy. You can do so by selecting the designate as Zakat option on our donation form.
Thank you for your continuous support!
